Black Ops 7 Beta: Treyarch Adjusts Perks Ahead of Launch Weekend Treyarch makes key perk changes for the Black Ops 7 beta, based on pro player feedback

With the Black Ops 7 multiplayer beta set to begin on October 2, Treyarch is making early adjustments to perk loadouts. These changes, revealed by Design Director Matt Scronce, are designed to fine-tune gameplay balance before fans dive in this weekend.

🔧 What’s Changing?

Scronce confirmed that three perks are shifting categories following internal tests and community feedback:

  • Dexterity → moved from Perk 1 to Perk 3
  • Scavenger → moved from Perk 2 to Perk 1
  • Looper → moved from Perk 3 to Perk 2

According to Scronce, these adjustments are just the beginning:

“We pulled the trigger on a few Perk changes for the upcoming Black Ops 7 Beta based off of feedback this week. We will, of course, gather data and feedback throughout the Beta and make additional adjustments for launch. Thanks!”

🧪 Why the Changes?

The tweaks stem from early playtests, including sessions with Call of Duty League pros and feedback from former pro Christian ‘Parasite’ Duarte. The dev team has been actively responding to player concerns, covering everything from returning health bars to time-to-kill speed (TTK) and potential map rotations.

This isn’t the first time Treyarch has rebalanced perks ahead of a major release — and it likely won’t be the last. The beta is being treated as a testing ground to refine gameplay before Black Ops 7 officially launches on November 14.

🗺️ What’s Included in the Beta?

Players can expect:

  • 6 multiplayer maps
  • 14 weapons
  • 5 game modes, including the brand-new Overload mode
  • Zombies, playable in beta for the first time ever
  • New scorestreaks and, of course, rebalanced perks

⚡ Final Thoughts

Perks have always played a major role in shaping Call of Duty’s multiplayer meta, and Treyarch is clearly committed to striking the right balance before launch. With the beta around the corner, expect more tweaks as Treyarch collects player feedback.
