Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to Bring Previously Unremastered BO2 Maps Post-Launch Treyarch promises new twists on classic Black Ops maps while refining multiplayer movement
Treyarch and Activision have confirmed that post-launch content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will feature Black Ops 2 maps that have never been remastered before. The announcement came during a rapid Q&A session with Design Director Matt Scronce, who confirmed fans will get fresh takes on classic battlegrounds.
“Yes, there are several Black Ops 2 maps that have yet to be remastered, and players will get a chance to experience them in Black Ops 7,” Scronce stated.
⚡ Multiplayer Movement Philosophy
Scronce also addressed questions regarding player movement. Following Black Ops 6, where omnimovement was heavily introduced, the development team has opted to “pull back a little bit” for this installment:
- Tac Sprint has been removed by default, while base movement speed has been slightly increased.
- Players who prefer aggressive sprinting can still access Tac Sprint through a perk.
- The goal is to provide a more balanced pace, allowing casual and competitive players to engage how they want.
For the competitive multiplayer mode:
- Kinetic jump is only available in the co-op campaign.
- Wall jumps are refined and can be chained up to three times, but wall running and jetpacks are not included.
🎨 Maps at Launch
An insider revealed new details about the launch maps in Black Ops 7:
- Only three remastered BO2 maps will be available at launch.
- Maps are reportedly more colorful and visually closer to Black Ops Cold War than the darker aesthetic of Black Ops 6.
This combination of classic map nostalgia and modernized visuals and movement mechanics aims to deliver a fresh yet familiar experience for fans of the series.
