A New Mod Lets You Turn CS2 Into Halo but There’s a Major Catch A new fan project transforms Counter-Strike 2 into a full Halo-style experience, complete with maps, weapons, announcers, and sci-fi movement
Counter-Strike 2 and Halo don’t have much in common besides being FPS legends — but one modder is working to merge their worlds. Project Misriah, created by modder Froddoya, reimagines Counter-Strike 2 as a full Halo experience, complete with classic maps, weapons, Spartan models, and even the iconic multiplayer announcer.
And yes — it actually feels shockingly natural in the Source 2 engine.
🎮 A Full Halo Conversion Inside Counter-Strike 2
Project Misriah goes far beyond a simple reskin. The mod pulls assets directly from Halo 3 and other titles to recreate Bungie’s signature style inside CS2.
Here’s what the mod includes right now:
- Halo weapons replacing CS2’s arsenal
- Spartan character models pulled from Halo 3
- Jeff Steitzer’s legendary announcer voice ("Double Kill!" etc.)
- Custom damage values for Halo-style time-to-kill
- Health regeneration
- Adjusted movement to mimic Halo’s floaty, sci-fi feel
The end result looks like Halo, sounds like Halo, and plays like Halo — but all inside Counter-Strike 2.
🗺️ There’s a Catch: Only a Few Halo Maps Are Playable (For Now)
The mod is impressive, but still early in development. At the moment, players only have:
- Ghost Town (Halo 3)
- High Ground (Halo 3)
- Homefront (Halo 3: ODST-style environment)
- Sento (custom map)
These give a nice taste of classic Halo, but most of the iconic arenas haven’t dropped yet.
The good news? Froddoya says the rest of the map pack is coming within the next two weeks.
Upcoming maps teased in the trailer include:
- The Pit
- Valhalla
- Narrows
- Guardian
- Last Resort
Once these hit Workshop, Project Misriah will feel like a full Halo 3 throwback.
🌐 How to Play the CS2 Halo Mod
You can download the mod on the Steam Workshop right now, and while it does support bots, it’s much more fun with friends.
No squad? No problem — Froddoya also hosts a community server running the mod:
CS2 Halo Mod Server:
- connect 135.148.136.190:27015
Hop in, load up a Spartan model, and enjoy the chaos.
🔧 Not Quite Finished: Animation Limits and Missing Weapons
While the mod is impressive, the developers are still facing some limitations:
- Valve currently blocks custom weapon animations, so Halo guns still use default CS2 animations.
- Not all Halo weapons are available yet.
- Some CS2 guns may still appear in loadouts, creating occasional goofy mismatches.
It’s a work in progress — but the potential is massive.
🛠️ Valve Is Quietly Embracing Modding Again
One of the most interesting takeaways? Counter-Strike 2 is becoming far more moddable than it was at launch.
The original Source engine gave rise to entire new genres, and seeing CS2 slowly reopen to community creativity signals that Valve may be preparing a new era of mod-driven innovation.
Project Misriah is one of the first big examples — but almost certainly not the last.
💬 Final Thoughts
While it’s not a complete package yet, Project Misriah is easily one of the coolest Counter-Strike 2 mods to emerge since launch. With more Halo maps, better animations, and expanded weapon support coming soon, this could become one of the most ambitious FPS crossover mods of the year.
If you love Halo, CS2, or just wild community projects, you’ll definitely want to keep this one on your radar.
