Elden Ring Nightreign Adds Two‑Player Duos Mode On July 30 FromSoftware introduces the highly requested Duo Expeditions next week, alongside UI enhancements

Since launching on May 30, 2025, Elden Ring: Nightreign has supported only solo runs or three-player co-op, leaving duo teams unsupported. Fans have consistently asked for a two-player option, and FromSoftware has finally delivered.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Duo Expeditions Are Coming Next Week

Patch 1.02, launching on July 30, adds Duo Expeditions—Nightreign’s long-awaited two-player mode, allowing you and one friend to explore Limveld together.

Game director Junya Ishizaki admitted that duo play was "overlooked" during development, as the focus was on solo and trio balance—but the studio is quick to address the gap with this update.

In celebration, FromSoftware released an official Duo Expeditions trailer highlighting the new gameplay dynamic.

Alongside Duo mode, the update introduces improved UI elements—including upgraded Relic filtering menus, more intuitive item sorting, and other user-focused refinements.

🛠️ Community Mods Arrived First—but Official Update Wins

Even before the official announcement, acclaimed modder LukeYui released a Seamless Co-op mod for PC that enabled duo runs within hours of release. While functional, it required separate save files to bypass anti-cheat systems.

Now, the official Duo Expeditions patch makes two-player co-op accessible to everyone—across platforms—without workarounds.

🚀 What This Means for Players

  • Flexibility for duo teams: No longer forced into solo or trio setups
  • Cleaner UX: Improved item management and clearer filter options
  • Supportive roadmap: Signals FromSoftware’s responsiveness to player feedback and willingness to expand post-launch content
