Konami Survey Suggests More Metal Gear Remakes Could Be on the Horizon Following the success of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami may be eyeing additional remakes—and fans are being asked to help shape the future

The Metal Gear franchise might be expanding once again. After the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami is now asking fans directly which games in the legendary series should be remade next.

🐍 Snake Eater’s Success Sparks New Conversations

Just last month, Konami dropped Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a high-profile remake of the 2004 classic MGS3: Snake Eater. Despite some technical criticisms, the remake sold over one million copies on launch day and has been well-received overall. The strong debut has reaffirmed fan demand for modernized versions of Hideo Kojima’s iconic stealth-action series.

Naturally, the big question now is: what’s next?

📝 Konami Wants Fan Input

During Tokyo Game Show 2025, Konami will host a Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline livestream to showcase the new Fox Hunt multiplayer mode for Snake Eater. Following the stream, fans will receive a survey asking which Metal Gear games they’d most like to see remade.

The survey question reportedly lists these eight titles:

  • Metal Gear
  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
  • Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Notably missing are Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Metal Gear Survive.

🔍 What This Could Mean

The inclusion of so many different entries—from the 1987 original Metal Gear to the more recent MGS5—suggests Konami is exploring remakes across the franchise’s entire timeline, not just fan-favorites like Sons of Liberty or Guns of the Patriots.

The presence of Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain is surprising given their relatively recent release (2014–2015), but it may reflect Konami’s interest in unifying the series under modern tech and visuals.

Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots stands out as a major candidate, since it has been locked to the PlayStation 3 for 17 years with no re-release on modern platforms.

🚨 What’s Next for Metal Gear?

With Snake Eater proving there’s a huge appetite for remakes, and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 already on the way, it’s clear the franchise is in the middle of a revival. Whether fans will see MGS1, MGS4, or another classic remade first will likely depend on survey feedback and future announcements.

For now, it’s safe to say that Metal Gear fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming years.
