Resident Evil Requiem Leak Suggests Leon Kennedy’s Return as a Playable Character A new PlayStation Store listing may have accidentally revealed Leon S. Kennedy’s inclusion in Resident Evil Requiem — though its legitimacy is still up for debate

The mystery surrounding Resident Evil Requiem continues to grow. A fresh leak allegedly originating from the Portuguese PlayStation Store suggests that Leon S. Kennedy — one of the series’ most beloved protagonists — could appear as a playable character in Capcom’s upcoming horror title.

The rumor began spreading shortly after pre-orders went live on October 29, when a Reddit user claimed that the Deluxe Edition description for Requiem listed several bonus costumes, including one titled “Leon Costume: DSO Special Agent.”

If true, this would indicate that Leon plays a major role in the game’s story — substantial enough to warrant his own alternate outfits. The “DSO Special Agent” name also directly references Leon’s role in Resident Evil 6, where he served in the Division of Security Operations.

🔍 A Long Trail of Leaks Leading to Leon

This isn’t the first time Leon’s involvement in Resident Evil Requiem (also referred to by some as RE9) has surfaced.

Back in January 2025, before Capcom had even officially revealed the game, industry insider Dusk Golem claimed that “Leon is 100% the main character of RE9.”

Even after Capcom’s official announcements — which never mentioned Leon by name — Dusk Golem continued to assert that the fan-favorite agent would appear alongside newcomer Grace, rumored to be the game’s co-lead.

The new PlayStation Store description seemed to support this theory, at least until questions about its authenticity emerged.

⚠️ The Leak’s Credibility Is in Question

Shortly after the supposed leak surfaced, the original Reddit post was deleted, and the user’s account vanished. This fueled speculation that the information may have been fabricated by editing the PlayStation Store’s front-end code — a method commonly used to create fake leaks.

Dusk Golem later acknowledged this possibility, sharing a follow-up post that debunked the store listing but maintained his stance that Leon is indeed part of Resident Evil Requiem.

According to his latest statement:

“Leon is in RE9 as a main playable character alongside Grace. It’s a waiting game for me for him to be revealed. I don’t know Capcom’s marketing plans, but I want to share what’s going on around RE as best I can.”

🎮 What This Could Mean for Resident Evil Requiem

If the leaks hold any truth, Resident Evil Requiem could mark Leon’s first major playable appearance since the Resident Evil 4 remake, once again pairing him with a new generation of survivors.

Whether or not the leak is legitimate, the consistent rumors about Leon’s presence suggest that fans might not have seen the last of the iconic agent.

With Capcom remaining silent on character details and leaks appearing more frequently as the game’s launch draws nearer, all signs point to an eventual reveal — but for now, players will just have to wait.

💭 Final Thoughts

While it’s still unconfirmed, the possibility of Leon Kennedy returning in Resident Evil Requiem has reignited excitement within the fanbase. Whether this leak proves accurate or not, it’s clear that Capcom’s next entry in the series is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated horror titles in years.
