Street Fighter 6 Update Adds Monster Hunter Fighter Pass and New Fighter Adjustments

Street Fighter 6 is back online after scheduled maintenance on September 1st, and the newest patch brings a mix of fresh cosmetics, Monster Hunter-themed rewards, and notable character balance changes. While some players are excited about the crossover content, others in the FGC are less enthusiastic about this season’s Fighter Pass structure.

🐉 Monster Hunter Fighter Pass Returns

The biggest addition in this update is the new Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration, which introduces updated EX costume colors and a massive collection of Monster Hunter-inspired avatar gear. The Fighter Pass itself has returned at a lower cost and with more accessible tier progression—however, the lack of new items and the fact that colors remain locked behind paid content has frustrated many long-time fans.

  • Cammy – Outfit 3 EX Color 2
  • Ken – Outfit 1 EX Color 2

🥋 Fighter Balance Adjustments

Alongside the cosmetic additions, Capcom implemented several targeted balance tweaks for Chun-Li, Lily, and Sagat.

Chun-Li

Developers clarified that Serenity Stream’s initial scaling was not intended to apply to counterattacks. As a result, the stance will now always cancel when a perfect parry occurs, preventing players from being stuck in a disadvantaged state.

Lily

Lily’s Rapid Cancel Assisted Combo had a bug where a crouching light punch could trigger unintentionally if players buffered inputs during recovery. This issue has now been resolved.

Sagat

Sagat received multiple adjustments—some of which players consider harsher than necessary:

  • His Drive Impact had its downward hitbox reduced to align with other fighters.
  • A combo bug involving Standing Light Punch, Crouching Light Punch, and Crouching Light Kick has been fixed.
  • Heavy Tiger Uppercut no longer starts up one frame faster due to a timing exploit.

💭 Final Thoughts

This Street Fighter 6 update provides plenty of cosmetic content for Monster Hunter fans, but its Fighter Pass design has stirred criticism within the community. While the improved accessibility and lower cost are welcome, the lack of new unlockables and reliance on paid color options remain sticking points. On the gameplay side, the character balance changes should refine competitive play—though Sagat mains may be feeling the impact most.
